Q: Do I have to discharge the battery before recharging it?
A: No. Routinely running the lamp until it exhausts the battery will reduce the life of the battery.
Lead acid batteries need to be kept fully charged, especially when they are to be stored for long periods. When in storage, we recommend they are recharged every 3 months. We suggest that you recharge lamps after use.

If the battery is left in a discharged state for more than 2 weeks, it will damage the capacity of the battery and may then need to be replaced.

Q: Can my Nightsearcher product be left on permanent charge?
A: Some Nightsearcher products can be left permanently on charge, always check user manuals.

Q: How do I convert Candlepower to Lumens?
A: The short answer is, you can’t. Lumens is a measurement of the total light output of the lamp/bulb, this is a measurement supplied by the manufacturer of the lamp/bulb itself.
Candlepower rating is normally a measurement of the brightest part of a focused beam. This is a calculated by measuring the hot spot in the focused beam.
Because Peak Beam Candlepower is focused light and lumens refer to unfocused light, it is not possible to convert the two.
